AVAILABLE GUARDIAN HOME OPPORTUNITIES
BROOKS
Ukraine Import AKC Fluffy Red Headed Tri Color STUD 7 months old Brooks is our happy, goofy, lovable squishy boy! He doesn't know a stranger, LOVES to be loved on and held, and is a quick learner. He is extremely food motivated which makes teaching him tricks a breeze! He is potty trained, crate trained, and is the very best boy! Since Brooks is a stud in our program, he will only be needing to leave for breeding for a few days at a time, a couple times a year. Being a guardian home for a stud in our program is a little less involved than the girls, since the stud's duty in breeding is a much shorter timeframe during the breeding process, only coming to our home for dates with his girlfriends. |
ROXIE
AKC Fluffy Red Headed Tri Color MOMMA DOG 2 years old Roxie is the SWEETEST dog you'll ever meet! She lives for belly rubs, sitting in laps, and giving kisses. She is fully potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. She is always wearing a smile, and LOVES to be with people. She gets along with all of our crew, and is very attention motivated. Roxie will come to us once or twice a year for breeding, then remain with her guardian home during her pregnancy, up until the last week. We then will keep her at our house for the birthing process and raising her puppies, typically up until 6-8 weeks. This is a great time to go on vacation, since you won't have to find a dog sitter for her! We are not in a hurry to find her a guardian home since she is SO easy, loving, and sweet, so we are looking for the perfect guardian home for her. |
WHAT IS A GUARDIAN HOME?
What is a guardian home? By participating in our guardian home program, you get a free well bred, health tested corgi in which we at Blacktail Mountain Corgis own breeding rights to. This allows us to grow our breeding program without taking attention away from the dogs that live with us. We do not want to have an overly large amount of dogs living with us to allow our dogs to each have the time and attention they need from us in order to live fulfilling lives. We do not believe in outdoor kennels and dog runs for our breeding dogs - our dogs are family and we treat them as such.
We also like the idea of our breeding dogs living in their forever homes right from the start. As breeders, we have to face the decision to rehome our breeding dogs once they are retired from breeding. If we had it our way, we would keep every dog that ever comes into our program, but that isn't feasible. Since rehoming dogs after they are retired from breeding can be stressful and sad for both dog and owner, we want to eliminate the chances that we will have to do that to our loved corgis by placing our new breeding prospects in guardian homes. This way, they live with their forever home right from the start as puppies, and can stay with their guardian families after they are retired from breeding. |
