Meet the Breeder
Hello, my name is Jenna! The handsome guy in the picture is my husband Ray, who has been patient enough to put up with all my corgi shenanigans! All jokes aside, I first started my breeding journey in 2013 when I got my first Labrador retriever, Harley, who I now call the Corgi Midwife. Since then, I've been building my breeding program specializing in mainly Pembroke Welsh Corgis and occasionally American Corgis. I believe strongly that the first 12 weeks of a puppy's life are the most important - and 8 of those weeks are spent in the breeder's home. Every puppy I raise becomes used to many different environments, making the first few days at their new home easier! I use Early Neurological Stimulation, or the "Super Dog" method. You can find an article on what that entails in the Links of Interest page. It really works!
Along my breeding journey, I've been able to meet some pretty amazing people. I am extremely grateful for the friends that breeding has brought me, and for the friends I will continue to make! Here at Blacktail Mountain Corgis, you aren't just someone who buys a puppy. You become part of our family when you bring your Corgi home. I can't wait to meet you! |
Why the Pembroke Welsh Corgi?First of all, who doesn't like those huge, floppy ears and stubby legs? Not to mention the fluffy butt. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi stood out to me not only by it's cuteness, but also the level of intelligence they possess. It's a big dog trapped in a little/medium-sized dog's body, which makes them so much fun! I love energetic dogs that enjoy being outside, as well as be OK relaxing inside every now and then. That's how I decided a Corgi was the next dog for me! They're even travel sized, which makes it easier to have a spirited dog in an apartment, townhouse, etc. Not to mention Corgis are easily rising to become the most popular pup in America, but also have been Queen Elizabeth II's favorite breed since she was a child. She has owned over 30 corgis since 1945, and has bred 8 generations herself. What a great history of the breed! You can read more about the Pembroke Welsh Corgi on the About the Breed page.

OUR MISSION
Being lifetime dog owners, we know how important our furry friends are in our lives. Breeding has been one of the most rewarding journeys in my life, and I get to meet so many amazing people in the process of raising puppies. Our goal is to provide high quality puppies to those around the states. Health is VERY important to us, and each of our dogs in our breeding program are health tested. We believe in eliminating any health issues that be passed along due to parentage, so your pup will live a long, healthy life.
After a puppy arrives home with you, our journey with you isn't over. Here at Blacktail Mountain Corgis, we believe in not only providing well bred pups to the community, but also help along your journey. Our care extends past the time our puppies leave our home - but well into adulthood as well. We love to stay updated throughout the pup's life. One thing we have desired to add to the great Salt Lake Valley is the availability of Fluffy Corgis. Though "fluffies" are considered a fault in the breed according to AKC, we can't get over how cute they are. We will be adding fluffies to our breeding program in due time, to provide a chance for those located in/around Utah to bring home their very own cute, fluffy corgi. We will still have "breed standard" corgis, but will love the opportunity to add diversity to the corgi population in northern Utah. |
