Product Recommendations
Amazon is our best friend! Most everything we list comes in bulk sizes as well as smaller sizes - we buy in bulk not only because it is cheaper in the end, but to cater to all of our Corgis!
Beginner Puppy Supplies
Washable Pee Pads - AMAZING to use in crates while potty training! These are super absorbant, so even if your puppy has an accident in their crate during crate and potty training, these soak up all the moisture to keep your pup clean!
Amazon Basics Enzyme Cleaner - Oops! Your new puppy just peed on your favorite white rug. What do you do? Don't panic! This cleaner breaks down the enzymes in pee, and its pleasant smell easily overrides the smell of urine. This is the most cost effective enzyme cleaner I have found for a budget friendly cost. I simply pour this straight into a spray bottle and you have a spot cleaner for accidents! One other option that works better than this cleaner is "My Pet Peed." However, it is much more expensive.

Nutrition
Hills Science Diet Small Bites & Hills Science Diet Puppy - This is by far the best food we have tried on the market, and it has really made a difference in our dogs' coats and health whelping litters! It is more pricey than other foods, but our Corgis' health is priority here at Blacktail Mountain Corgis. We highly recommend you feed your puppy Hills Science Diet, but if you choose to feed something else, all we ask is you don't feed them food you can find at your local grocery store such as Walmart. Most of the food you find there is very low value nutritionally, and is comparable to us eating potato chips with every meal.
Grizzly Salmon/Polluck Oil - This is an amazing additive you can put in your Corgi's food every morning to keep their coat shiny and skin soft and healthy. We use one squirt in our Corgi's food once a day, and it helps keep shedding to a minimum by keeping that coat nice and healthy. Not a necessary item to have in your regiment, but it is a must have for us here at Blacktail Mountain Corgis!

Grooming
The Coat Handler DeShedding Shampoo & The Coat Handler Conditioner - This shampoo and conditioner set is an absolute LIFE SAVER in the corgi world! It helps your pup smell great, AND helps decrease the amount of shedding coming from your pup. Paired with the conditioner, it helps strip the old, dead fur off of your Corgi during a bath, and nourishes the skin and coat to keep everything glossy and moisturized.
Shampoo Pumps - To use with the gallon size shampoo and conditioner listed above! Having a pump makes everything much easier to dispense product from these containers. This also allows you to dispense soap and still have a hand on your wriggly pup who isn't too happy about a bath!
Nutri-Vet Ear Cleanse - This ear cleanse is what makes or breaks the way our dogs smell, no joke!! Most of that strong dog smell we try to avoid I have found comes from the oils produced by their ears. By using this ear cleanse after every bath, it not only helps dry out the ear after bath time, but it makes your pup smell fresh and clean! I really can not rave more about this product. It keeps ears clean and healthy, preventing nasty ear infections.
Nail Dremel - I'm not the biggest fan of nail clippers, because it can be abrupt and if you trim to far down, you will hit the quick which causes bleeding and is very traumatizing for your pup. Dremels make life so much easier and result in a more rounded nail, so it won't snag on carpets, rugs, etc. after trimming. Use it often as your puppies grow, so they learn to sit still and enjoy nail trimming!
Pet Shower Attachment - Forget the old cup method when it comes to bathing your Corgi! It takes way too long and never really fully rinses the soap out of their fur. This shower attachment has been a life saver, and has great pressure. This is the best one I have come across, and works for most bath tubs.
Vacuum Pet Grooming Kit - This grooming kit is seriously a life changer!! It allows you to brush quickly and it vacuums up all the hair you brush out once you press the release button. Plus, it prevents floating hairs from flying all around your face when you are brushing. It is totally worth investing in!
Dog Grooming Kit - This kit is an affordable option to own your own salon quality scissors to trim and shape that perfect, iconic corgi butt. This is what we use on our dogs, and they work like a charm!
Training
Dog Training Collar - This is by far the best bang for your buck and is VERY responsive. Before you judge a training collar for being hurtful to your dog - it can be VERY useful! We only use these in training situations to help with recall, etc. These collars have the option of a beep, vibration, and shock (which has adjustable levels 1-16). These are a great tool to use in training, but are absolutely NOT an ok tool to use in punishing any behavior. Use carefully, and you can reach out to us if you have any questions about how to incorporate this collar in your training!
Elevated Pet Bed - This pet bed is a nice place for your pup to learn to relax and take a break. It is extremely useful in teaching the "place" command, which will help your pup learn patience, impulse control, listening skills, and more! We can't stress enough how important this command is. So we love these elevated beds!

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): Also known as pre-stressing, Super Dog, or Bio-Sensor. All of my puppies recieve Early Neurological Stimulation to improve their overall health and stress tolerance. This article written by Dr. Carmen L. Battaglia explains the steps to perform ENS, the benefits of puppies that have been exposed to ENS vs. puppies who have not, and what Early Neurological Stimulation is.
Coat Color Genetics in Pembrokes: Here you can read on coat color inheritance in Pembroke Welsh Corgis. This is a great resource if you would like to breed and aim to produce certain colors of dogs.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM): This is an excellent article explaining the true risk of a dog with Degenerative Myelopathy. It explains the scare of DM and that many dogs who are even "at risk/affected" for DM don't develop symptoms. In the article it states that 52% of Corgis are "at risk/affected," 37% are "carriers," and only a small 11% are "clear." Even "clear" dogs can develop symptoms of DM, due to environmental issues. Though we believe the risk for developing DM is small, here at Blacktail Mountain Corgis we do all we can to prevent genetic disorders by ONLY producing clear or carrier (not affected) puppies.
Choosing a Puppy: Should I Look for DM Clear?: This is an amazing article that explains Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) in full detail, and if it really should be that big of a concern or not when choosing a breeder. "Was it really DM that effected my corgi's life, or was it IVDD, a slipped disc, overweight, back injury, etc.?" While we do our best to provide high quality dogs to our program that are clear for genetic diseases, we are also VERY focused on the overall health, structure, and temperament of the dog. There may come times where breeding a DM at risk corgi (which has less than 1% chance of actually developing the disease) may be necessary to improve the breed. This practice of breeding DM at risk corgis is often used in show breeders lines, especially found in European breeds. This being said, we stand behind ALL of our puppies' health with our health guarantee.
